Payout
The actual disbursement of your profits by the prop firm. Its frequency and reliability matter as much as the split.
A payout is when the firm actually pays you. Terms vary: minimum required, delay (daily, weekly, 48 h), method (bank transfer, crypto). A firm with a great split but slow or uncertain payouts is worth less than it looks.
In depth
The payout is the actual disbursement of your share of gains: when the money moves from the trading account to your bank account. It's the concrete endpoint of the prop firm model, and, in practice, the criterion that separates a reliable firm from a paper one. Payout rules (frequency, minimum amount, conditions) matter as much as the split.
Models vary: payout on request, weekly, bi-monthly, or daily at the most aggressive firms. Conditions often come with them: a minimum number of traded days, a minimum profit, sometimes a 'consistency' rule (no single day may represent too large a share of the total gain). The speed and regularity of actual payments are a sign of seriousness.
In practice, before committing, look beyond the promise: advertised frequency, minimum withdrawal threshold, conditions (minimum days, consistency rule) and above all community feedback on real payment speed. A firm can advertise a daily payout but wrap it in conditions.
A daily-payout plan: you can withdraw every day once the minimum is reached.
Trusting the advertised frequency without reading the conditions. A 'daily payout' can require a minimum profit, a number of traded days or a consistency rule that pushes the first withdrawal well beyond a day. Promise and reality often differ.
Frequently asked
What is a consistency rule?
A condition limiting the share a single day can represent in your total gain (e.g. no more than 30 to 50%). It aims to filter out 'one lucky shot' accounts and can delay a payout if one day weighs too heavily.
Are daily payouts a good sign?
It's attractive, but read it with the attached conditions. A serious firm is judged by the real regularity of payments and community feedback, not by the advertised frequency alone.
How long until my first payout?
It depends on the rules: minimum traded days, minimum profit, processing time. Check these three before committing; they determine the real delay, not the marketing hook.
