Eurex

Europe's major derivatives exchange (Deutsche Börse group), home of the FDAX, Euro Stoxx 50 and Bund. The prop firm industry's blind spot: nearly all stop at CME.

Eurex is Europe's counterpart to the CME: European index futures (DAX 40, Euro Stoxx 50) and rates futures (Bund, Bobl, Schatz) trade there. Its data and connectivity cost more than CME's, which is why nearly every prop firm ignores it, and why funded-trader competition is so thin. Extended trading hours, but real liquidity concentrates between 8am and 5:30pm (Paris), then follows the US open.

In depth

Eurex is Europe's main derivatives exchange, operated from Frankfurt: it's where the FDAX (DAX 40), the Euro Stoxx 50, the Mini-DAX and many European futures and options trade. It's the European equivalent of the US CME, with its own hours, its own liquidity and its own macro calendar.

For the order flow community, Eurex is a strategic blind spot. The overwhelming majority of traders and prop firms focus on US futures (NQ, ES); the Eurex ecosystem is far less covered, less crowded, and thus full of opportunities for whoever specializes in it. That's the positioning bet of OrderFlowFutures: occupy this niche rather than fight on the saturated CME turf.

How to read it in practice

In practice, trading Eurex means setting your clock to European hours and following the eurozone macro calendar (ECB, German CPI, ZEW). The upside: less competition on information and an order flow read just as valid as across the Atlantic.

Example

Search “Eurex prop firm” and you get a tiny list, that's exactly the opportunity.

Common mistake

Ignoring Eurex because 'everyone trades the NQ'. It's precisely the opposite you should see: Eurex's thin coverage is an opportunity, not a flaw. You just need to know its specific hours and calendar.

Frequently asked

Eurex or CME: what's the difference?

CME is the US exchange (NQ, ES, US futures); Eurex is the European exchange (FDAX, Euro Stoxx 50). Hours, liquidity and macro calendar differ, but order flow reading applies to both.

Can you trade Eurex on a prop firm?

Yes, but few firms offer it, it's a niche. Those covering Eurex (including Phidias with DeepCharts) are tracked in our comparator.

Why specialize in Eurex?

Because competition is thinner than on the saturated US futures. Fewer traders, less media coverage, all the more opportunity for whoever masters this market and its European hours.
